With so many potential career paths in recruitment, our ‘Working in Recruitment’ series is designed to give an insight into life here at Henry Nicholas, and what to expect from a recruitment job.
We spoke to our Operations Director Daniel Carne about his role…
Hi Dan! How long have you worked for Henry Nicholas?
I’ve worked here for 13 years, since 2010.
What’s your career background?
I started my career in recruitment as a Graduate Trainee Resourcer, then moved through the ranks to Consultant, Senior Consultant and Principal Consultant, progressing to building teams. I’ve recently been promoted into Operations Director, so it’s been a rewarding career path so far!
What do you enjoy most about recruitment?
I really enjoy the variety of work I get to do, and the great clients I get to do it for. I love building long lasting relationships with candidates and clients, and seeing their careers and businesses flourish.
What do you love about working at HN?
We’re lucky to have a great office space, with lovely people and the autonomy to shape the direction of your career. What more could you want!
How would you describe the HN culture?
It’s collaborative, constructively competitive, and most of all supportive.
What does your typical day look like?
I’ll start by taking varied briefs from my clients in CX, Data and CRM, then work with my team to unearth the very best candidates. I also lead business operations, so that adds another element to my role.
Do you have a favourite memory to share?
There are too many to mention; watching Cirque de Soleil in Las Vegas, soaking in jacuzzis in Portugal, wine tasting in Bordeaux… there are definitely a few perks to the job!
What are you looking forward to achieving this year?
I’m looking forward to seeing the results of our first ever Henry Nicholas structured training programme for new recruits, and growing the team further in 2023 and beyond.
